Love Verses in the Bible - II Samuel

Love is the foremost trait in all of Scripture. Because of Love, God sent His Son Jesus Christ to redeem us from the penalty of our sin through His sacrifice and victory at the cross.  Jesus Christ identified the most important commandments in all of Scripture to be: Love God, Love your neighbor.  Just before His crucifixion, Jesus said: "A new command I give you: Love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another."  Without God, this is simply impossible because "God is Love."

As C.S. Lewis wrote, "In God, there is no hunger that needs to be filled, only plenteousness that desires to give."

Love
  • 2 Samuel 1:26
    • "I grieve for you Jonathan my brother; you were very dear to me.  Your love for me was wonderful, more wonderful than that of women."
  • 2 Samuel 7:15
    • "But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you."
  • 2 Samuel 13:1
    • "In the course of time, Amnon son of David fell in love with Tamar, the beautiful sister of Absalom son of David."
  • 2 Samuel 13:4
    • "He asked Amnon, 'Why do you, the king's son, look so haggard morning after morning?  Won't you tell me?'  Amnon said to him, I'm in love with Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.'"
  • 2 Samuel 16:17
    • "Absalom asked Hushai, 'Is this the love you show your friend?  Why didn't you go with your friend?'"
  • 2 Samuel 19:6
    • "You love those who hate you and hate those who love you.  You have made it clear today that the commanders and their men mean nothing to you.  I see that you would be pleased if Absalom were alive today and all of us were dead."
Loved
  • 2 Samuel 1:23
    • "Saul and Jonathan -- in life they were loved and gracious, and in death they were not parted.  They were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions."
  • 2 Samuel 12:24
    • "Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba, and he went to her and lay with her.  She gave birth to a son, and they named him Solomon.  The Lord loved him;"
  • 2 Samuel 12:25
    • "and because the Lord loved him, he sent word through Nathan the prophet to name him Jedidiah."
  • 2 Samuel 13:15
    • "Then Amnon hated her with intense hatred.  In fact, he hated her more than he had loved her.  Amnon said to her, 'Get up and get out!'"
