Love Verses in the Bible - I Kings

Love is the foremost trait in all of Scripture. Because of Love, God sent His Son Jesus Christ to redeem us from the penalty of our sin through His sacrifice and victory at the cross.  Jesus Christ identified the most important commandments in all of Scripture to be: Love God, Love your neighbor.  Just before His crucifixion, Jesus said: "A new command I give you: Love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another."  Without God, this is simply impossible because "God is Love."

As C.S. Lewis wrote, "In God, there is no hunger that needs to be filled, only plenteousness that desires to give."

Love
  • 1 Kings 3:3
    • "Solomon showed his love for the Lord by walking according to the statutes of his father David, except that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places."
  • 1 Kings 8:23
    • "and said: 'O Lord, God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven above or on earth below -- you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way."
  • 1 Kings 10:9
    • "Praise be to the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on the throne of Israel.  Because of the Lord's eternal love for Israel, he has made you king, to maintain justice and righteousness."
  • 1 Kings 11:2
    • "They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, 'You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.'  Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love."

Loved
  • 1 Kings 11:1
    • "King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh's daughter -- Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites."
