Love Verses in the Bible - Jeremiah

Love is the foremost trait in all of Scripture. Because of Love, God sent His Son Jesus Christ to redeem us from the penalty of our sin through His sacrifice and victory at the cross.  Jesus Christ identified the most important commandments in all of Scripture to be: Love God, Love your neighbor.  Just before His crucifixion, Jesus said: "A new command I give you: Love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another."  Without God, this is simply impossible because "God is Love."

As C.S. Lewis wrote, "In God, there is no hunger that needs to be filled, only plenteousness that desires to give."

Love

• Jeremiah 2:25
• "Do not run until your feet are bard and your throat is dry.  But you said, 'It's no use!  I love foreign gods, and I must go after them.'"

• "How skilled you are at pursuing love!  Even the worst of women can learn from your ways."

• "They will be exposed to the sun and the moon and all the stars of the heavens, which they have loved and served and which they have followed and consulted and worshiped.  They will not be gathered up or buried, but will be like refuse lying on the ground."
• Jeremiah 31:3

Lovers

• Jeremiah 3:1
• "If a man divorces his wife and she leaves him and marries another man, should he return to her again?  Would not the land be completely defiled?  But you have lived as a prostitute with many lovers -- would you now return to me?' declares the Lord."
• Jeremiah 3:2
• "'Look up to the barren heights and see.  Is there any place where you have not been ravished?  By the roadside you sat waiting for lovers, sat like a nomad in the desert.  You have defined the land with your prostitution and wickedness."
